This is a resend. I just noticed that I put Feb 21, not Feb 20 in the
previous email.
As discussed at the last meeting, we are going to take a diversion into
WiFi security as an educational activity.
For anyone marking calendars, that is February 20, 2025.
To that end, the talk can be entirely passive, or you can participate
actively with a couple of items. The setup will be pretty easy, no more
than 10 minutes, so we can budget 30 since nothing ever goes as planned :)
While this can be accomplished with a lot of different hardware, I'm
going with simple, easy, and hopefully inexpensive.
All you really need is a Gl.iNet Mango router and a specific WiFi
adapter as the built in one does not have the necessary features
required. There are a lot of options out there, but the image we will be
using is designed around two specific WiFi USB adapters, which were once
common as dirt.

The second item might take a little while to get shipped, mine showed up
early, as in yesterday when it was showing Jan 27 as the earliest date.
Just to avoid sticker shock, the WiFi adapter also has a shipping charge
associated with it.
I have a couple of simple exercises to show what you can do right out of
the box with this thing, so that might be a little bit of fun.
There are additional things we can do as future activities if there is
interest after the talk.
Cheers,
Scott
